My background
I'm Kyle Vance, a criminal defense lawyer in League City, Texas. I have seen criminal cases from every seat in the courtroom: as a defense lawyer, as a judge, and as a prosecutor.
I earned my law degree (J.D.) from South Texas College of Law Houston in 2005. I was licensed to practice law in Texas the same year.
Three seats in the courtroom
Defense lawyer. I have spent 15 years as a criminal defense lawyer. Defending people is the work I do today, and my practice is limited to criminal defense.
Judge. I served 9 years as a part-time Municipal Judge, alongside my defense practice. On the bench, I listened to both sides and decided cases. That gave me a clear view of how a case looks from the judge's seat.
Prosecutor. I worked as a Felony Prosecutor in Bexar County. I served as a Trial Team Chief in a prosecutor's office in El Paso County. I was also a Felony Prosecutor in the Galveston County Criminal District Attorney's Office.
Trial experience. I have tried all types of cases, from misdemeanor family violence to large drug possession cases to the most serious cases, such as sexual assault and murder.
These roles do not give me special influence with any court or prosecutor's office, and I do not use confidential information from my government work. What they give me is an understanding of how criminal cases are investigated, charged, negotiated, and tried, and how each side is likely to see your case.
How I work
- You work with me. Vance Criminal Defense is a solo practice. I handle your case myself, from the first meeting through the last court setting.
- Plain English. I explain where your case stands, what could happen next, and the choices you have. You make the key decisions.
- Calm and prepared. I review the evidence closely and prepare each case on its own facts.
- Honest advice. I tell you what I see in your case, including the hard parts.
Where I practice
I represent adults charged with misdemeanors and felonies in Galveston, Harris, Brazoria, and Fort Bend Counties, Texas. My office is at 2600 South Shore Blvd, Suite 300, League City, TX 77573.
