Every seat in the courtroom
Most people facing a criminal charge have never been inside a courtroom. I have worked in one from every side.
- As a defense lawyer for 15 years, I have stood next to people facing charges like yours.
- As a Municipal Judge for 9 years, I sat on the bench and decided cases.
- As a prosecutor, I handled felony cases in Bexar County and in the Galveston County Criminal District Attorney's Office, and I served as a Trial Team Chief in El Paso County.
That background helps me see a case the way each person in the courtroom will see it. It does not give me special influence with any judge or prosecutor. What it gives you is a lawyer who understands how cases are built, tested, and decided, and who can explain it to you in plain English.
Vance Criminal Defense is a solo practice. My practice is limited to criminal defense, and I handle your case myself.

DWI
Driving while intoxicated, including first-offense, repeat, and felony DWI, plus the separate license-suspension (ALR) process.
Family Violence / Assault
Assault and family-violence charges, bond conditions, and the protective orders that often come with them.
Drug Possession / Delivery
Possession, possession with intent, and delivery charges, including marijuana, controlled substances, and prescription drugs.

Misdemeanor Charges
Class A and Class B cases such as possession, assault, theft, and driving offenses, plus Class C matters.
Probation Violations
Motions to revoke probation and motions to adjudicate deferred adjudication, from technical violations to new-offense allegations.
Warrants and Bond
Help with outstanding warrants, getting a bond set or lowered, and bond conditions after an arrest.
What to do after an arrest
- Stay calm and keep your paperwork. That includes bond papers and any notice about your driver's license.
- Do not talk about the facts of your case with anyone except your lawyer. That includes jail phone calls, texts, and social media.
- Write down what you remember while it is fresh: dates, times, names, and what was said.
- Follow every bond condition and go to every court date.
- Call a lawyer before you make decisions about your case.
